Purpose:
|
To compare the outcomes between small and large malignant melanoma(MM) treated by brachytherapy.
|
|
Methods:
|
The clinical records of all patients with MM treated by brachytherapy between 2009-2013was retrospectively reviewed. Mean follow up time was 36 months.
|
|
Results:
|
The mean improvement of Log MAR visual acuity in the small and large group was 3.3 and 2.5 respectively(P=0.01).The rate of enucleation was 4/73 in small tumors and13/90 in large ones(P=0.05).
|
|
Conclusion:
|
Brachytherapy is an effective method for globe salvage in large malignant melanoma, Although the visual improvement is less than the small tumors.
