Purpose:
|
to compare the safety and efficiency of photodynamic therapy(PDT) and brachytherapy in the treatment of CCH.
|
|
Methods:
|
Clinical data of 17 patients treated with photo dynamic therapy ( POT ) and 21 with brachytherapy were retrospectively reviewed.
|
|
Results:
|
Mean changes of VA(decimal) in PDT group was 0.08±0.3and in brachytherapy group was 0.06±0.07;the difference between 2 groups was not significant.
Mean changes of tumor thickness in PDT group was 2.18 ± 1.01 mm and in brachytherapy group was 3.15±1.2 mm ;this change is significantly higher by plaquetherapy(P=0.02).

Conclusion:
|
PDT is as effective and safe method as brachytherapy for treating symptomatic CCH.PDT is especially suitable for small-size tumor. Both treatment methods result in improvement or stabilization of visual acuity, resolution of subretinal fluid and tumor regression.
