Purpose:
Basal cell adenomas are uncommon benign epithelial tumors of salivary glands. The majority of cases appear in the parotid gland of elderly patients. Basal cell adenoma of the orbit is an extremely rare entity, and to the authors knowledge, only one case has been previously reported in the medical literature. This study reports a case of basal cell adenoma(BCA) of the orbit with an unknown origin and describes the clinical, imaging, histopathologic features and immunihistochemical findings of the tumor. An informed consent was taken from the patient and the report follows the tenets of declaration of Helsinki.

Conclusion:
although rare, BCA should be considered in the differential diagnosis of benign orbital tumors in an old patient. Accurate histopatholgic examination is crucially important to differentiate the tumor from other similar masses. We also emphasize the importance of immunohistochemistry for an accurate diagnosis of BCA. Surgical excision or debulking is usually curative and carries a favorable prognosis. Despite this benign behavior, Long term follow up for recurrences and malignant transformation is recommended.
