Purpose:
To compare visual field defect pattern between Pigmentary Glaucoma and Primary Open Angle Glaucoma
Methods:
38 eyes of 24 patients with diagnosis of Primary Open Angle Glaucoma and 36 eyes of 22 patients with diagnosis of Pigmentary Glaucoma were enrolled in this study. For each patient glaucoma fellowship evaluated visual fields then data analysis was performed using SPSS software version 20.
Results:
38 eyes of 24 patients with mean age of 66.26+-11 years (range 48-81 years) in Primary Open Angle Glaucoma group and 36 eyes of 22 patients with mean age of 50.52+-11 years (range 36-69 years) in Pigmentary Glaucoma group were enrolled in this study. (p=0.00). only points 1, 3,4,32 in total deviation (P=0.03, P=015, P=0.018, P=023)and points 3,4,32 pattern deviation (P=0.015, P=0.049, P=0.030) , and only a part of visual field that is compatible with nasal sector of optic disc (P=0.013) had statistically significant difference between two groups with aggregation in Primary Open Angle Glaucoma group.
Conclusion:
it seems that temporal area of visual field that is compatible with nasal sector of optic disc in Primary Open Angle Glaucoma is more susceptible to damage in comparison with Pigmentary Glaucoma.
